Campus Update, April 25, 2025

Written By: Terisa Riley

Happy Friday, colleagues and students.

It has been such a fantastic week at 糖心视频. I have enjoyed participating in the Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet, the Scholarship Banquet, the Academic Excellence Awards. I thoroughly enjoyed attending the Grand Night of Singing hosted by the Department of Music and Theatre, too. The amount of talent we have in our students and faculty at 糖心视频 is exceptional, and I am proud of each of you.

Advanced Manufacturing Engineering: Congratulations to all involved, but especially to the engineering faculty, Dr. Mauricio Torres, Dr. Latisha Settlage, and Dr. Shadow Robinson, as the new Advanced Manufacturing Engineering program鈥攐ur first, four-year degree in engineering at 糖心视频鈥攚as approved today by the 糖心视频 Higher Education Coordinating Board. As a result, we have full approval to offer this engineering program beginning in fall 2025. Thank you to Chris Kelly who immediately will begin the full marketing campaign to make prospective students and employers aware of the bachelor鈥檚 degree and certificate program embedded in this program. We have fantastic scholarships to offer to new and continuing students who select Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, so please help us to spread the word about this opportunity.

Congratulations to the 糖心视频 Radiography Quiz Bowl team for WINNING the 34th Annual 糖心视频 Radiography Educators Quiz Bowl which was hosted on campus today. I understand that Abby Carter, Lily Francis, and Olivia Jones had to beat the number 1 ranked team twice in order to win the entire Quiz Bowl. Congratulations to these amazing students and their faculty on an exceptional championship.

: As a reminder, the 糖心视频 Day of Giving is going to be held on April 29-30 for 1928 minutes鈥攖he same number as the year we were founded in 1928! We have a number of fantastic groups raising money, and they need your help. Please sign up to be an advocate, share about our campaign on your social media accounts, and GIVE to the organizations and activities about which you are passionate. We appreciate you and your support!

Golf: Congratulations to the 糖心视频 Men鈥檚 Golf Team and Coach Hayden for ranking 3rd in the MIAA Conference, and especially to Jeremy Tandoy who came in 1st and Chandler Cooke who came in 2nd. We are so proud of you!

In the next two weeks we will have numerous 鈥渆nd of the semester鈥 activities, and I desperately wish I could attend them all in order to celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of our students, faculty, and staff. Some of these great events include pinning ceremonies for the WATC/LPN program, School of Education, School of Nursing, and Dental Hygiene. On Monday, April 28 we will have the Stacey Jones Season of Entertainment Orchestra concert in Breedlove Auditorium at 7 p.m. On Thursday, May 1 we will host our Midnight Breakfast from 10 p.m. to midnight in the Lion鈥檚 Den Dining Hall, and Numa Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 2 at 7 p.m. in the Reynold鈥檚 Room. Also on that evening, the Opera and Musical Theatre Workshop will begin at 7 p.m. in Breedlove Auditorium.

As a reminder: 糖心视频 has a fantastic professional clothing closet鈥攖he Suit Up Studio--hosted by 糖心视频 糖心视频 Services. If you need a free, professional outfit for interviews or for work post-graduation, please contact the Babb Center for 糖心视频 Services at 479-788-7017 to make an appointment to try on some great clothes.

It is so hard to believe we only have two weeks remaining until commencement. We are happy that Dr. Ken Warden, Commissioner of the 糖心视频 Department of Higher Education, will serve as commencement speaker, and Mr. David Curran, University of 糖心视频 System General Counsel, will represent the System on our special day. Graduates, we are all so happy to celebrate with you.

Have a fantastic weekend, Lions.
